Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are stepping into high school for the first time in their life this year. They come from diverse backgrounds and family structures. Many of my students coming from homes with low socioeconomic resources and are on free or reduced lunch.

When my students come to me, I want to foster a culture of inclusion, honoring diversity from all walks of life.

I want to create an environment where they can learn about world history not just by books but by seeing it through the eyes of their classmates. We are lucky that our differences make for such a culturally rich environment.

My students come to me on a daily basis eager to learn. They want to accomplish many things in life, many accomplishments that begin in high school.

My Project

My students are a very diverse and curious set of individuals. They are interested in learning about the world but have no way of getting there.

In my freshman World History classes I have found that many of my students have not experienced life further than a 30 mile radius from their home.

This project seeks to introduce them to places that they have never even heard of. Through the use of the MacBook, my students will be able to travel both across time and location. This will open they eyes to World History and embark them in a journal of discovery. With the MacBook and ink, students will also be able to apply to grants that can hopefully someday take them away to visit a destination.
