Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

At-Home Learning through e-Classrooms and a Virtual Google Meets 90 mins each class all day. It has hit these young students, and I quite a bit differently than others dealing with COVID 19. As I approach the 2nd Semester of Distant Virtual at Home Learning and Working at a G.L.O.B.A.L. school, I need to provide these young developing minds with all the resources they should have. Unfortunately they still do not have full access, with testing just around the corner.

My students are 99% English language learners and all receive Free lunch.

They took there exams in their 1st language and now everything is in English and they are struggling readers that are compassionate and caring. Just issuing each a personal copy of Hidden Figures from another project had their eyes illuminated with excitement.

They are remaining at home to ensure their safety and longevity of life while trying to be educated through this pandemic at a crucial year of life 7th-grade. The Summer Programs for the district offered so much for the students, yet there has been zero support at all for the materials to be available to the students at home and allow them to achieve same level.

My Project

Hidden Figures will help my students experience the impact and greatness of Mathematics from a Real-World perspective, as well as, the Employee Inequality and Social Injustice that can exist in the work place even NASA.

They will experience the gender bias and discrimination women and African Americans endured while being instrumental in landing a person on the moon.

My students will be using these resources for learning at home. The opportunity to collaborate with a teacher from another disciplines on this project is paramount. We are helping our students develop Inner care, Self-Acceptance for self and Social Awareness and Empathy for others. Becoming will helo them understand that they are in a season of transformation and todays decisions impacts the outcome of tomorrow.
