My Project

At BCCS, we look for opportunities to promote reading every chance we get. Our science and sustainability initiatives are no exception. We recently started a Science/Sustainability Lending Library for students in Grades K-5. Our portable lending library allows students to borrow books for up to two weeks at a time. Our early childhood population, 3K and Pre K students, are very curious about our lending library. We have discovered that science topics are high interest topics among the youngest of our students and we wish to provide them with high quality reading materials and related activities.

These books, selected with the input of our student librarians, will ignite and fuel a passion for reading in the students in our Early Childhood Department.

Our students in the "U" (Grades 3-5) are very excited to be able read to, and with our 3K and Pre K students early in the morning and after lunch. This is a win-win initiative. Our upper grade students can model exemplary reading behavior, while sharing their passion for science and the environment.
