My Students

Science is everywhere in our classroom! We watch caterpillars transform into monarch butterflies, use the engineering and design process to build bridges out of recycled materials, and explore the world with magnifying glasses and microscopes.

My students are learning how to make a positive impact on the environment, and it begins with a love of Earth and nature.

My students explore science and ask thoughtful questions. I am working to encourage scientific thinking and problem solving skills along with creativity and innovation. Between my partner and I, we see every K-8 student in our school for science. Our school is in a country setting, tucked in a beautiful valley. Over 450+ students come through my lab every week. My students love hands-on learning and discovery.

My Project

With these materials, my students will learn about the environment and the world around them. The root view and compost viewers will show how food grows and decomposes, important earth processes. These will enhance our learning as we work in our school garden and learn where our food comes from. The nonfiction books and other science materials will provide an engaging way to learn about abstract science phenomena. The air zookas will help students understand that air is matter as they play and have fun knocking over cups and moving a friend's hair with a puff of air. The geyser tube will help us learn about chemical reactions and the tornado tube will help us as we study extreme weather.
