My Project

The materials I have requested will immensely help my students in achieving their annual and short-term goals as stated in their Individualized Education Plan. I work with children ages 2-18 who are hearing and language impaired. Some students wear hearing aids, cochlear implants, or are training their ears to learn language. My students are all diverse and come from diverse backgrounds.

My students all have different needs and learn in different ways.

They love hands-on activities. They all are eager to learn and want to learn new skills. Most of my students are in need of hands-on learning and sensory learning through play helps them learn the basic foundation for speech and language. Play therapy is crucial in developing language and social skills in early learners. Materials like legos and sensory toys will help my students learn through play, visuals, listening games to improve auditory comprehension, follow directions, and build vocabulary. I work in one of the highest need areas in NYC and these materials will give my students the opportunity to succeed.
