My class has 20 wonderful students who are in need of replacement materials to support their academic development. Our beginning of the year supplies have been depleted.
The most important items I have requested are dry erase markers because the students use those daily to respond individually to questions and prompts.
This is important because my students lack the confidence at times to answer questions orally. When the students use dry erase boards to answer questions, I can provide immediate, private feedback. This strategy is also more environmentally responsible than using scratch paper.
I want my students to start second semester rejuvenated with new supplies that inspire them to keep working hard.
My students are the most fragile learners in our school. Supplies that are worn out add to frustration when learning is difficult. I have also requested pencils, glue sticks, and markers to replace pencils with no erasers and dried up markers and glue sticks.
Many family gatherings have taken place over winter break which brings an increase of illness to our school, so I have requested tissues for obvious reasons. Small improvements make a big impact on my students' perspective about our class and all their hard work. These supplies will help the students get off to a strong start for second semester.
