Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am an 12th English teacher in South Los Angeles. I teach a semester of World Literature and strive to provide my curious students a glimpse of the world around them through culturally relevant and diverse texts.

Though some of my students are reluctant readers, I know that they are immensely capable of engaging with a text and making powerful real-world connections that will inform their perspectives as lifelong learners.

I hope to get everyone's noses into important books that directly reflect the lives of my students, the community around us, and the world at large. I also hope to create challenging, illuminating, and creative lessons that bring out each of my students' individual voices.

My Project

Throughout the pandemic, I have been using two monitors to be an effective online teacher. Unfortunately, I have need to replace one of the monitors. Without the second monitor, I cannot effectively be on camera in Zoom, connect with my students, and present my content.

The second monitor will help me ensure that I remain connected with my students through Zoom and present content in a clear and effective fashion.

As we head into an unknown situation into the fall, in which hybrid learning is still a possibility, this technology would help me continue to be an effective teacher for my students.
