Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come to class everyday excited to read and share reading with peers. I have a classroom of English Language Learners which means that they have great hope to be fluent readers one day. Please help their dreams come true by supporting our listening center to instill their love for reading.

Class 201 has 30 English Language learners who come from various countries and seek opportunities to become successful one day.

They are all excited about learning and hope to become proficient speakers of English soon and become teachers, lawyers, and doctors. I am glad that I am responsible for teaching them the fundamental skills that are necessary to embark on their journeys.

My Project

Students will have a rotating schedule to use the listening center and listen to books on tape. This will help them recognize sight words, and increase their word recognition skills while they listen to favorite stories. Newcomers who are developing phonic skills will have an opportunity to feel pride as they hear stories and establish independence during reading workshop time.

This project will help students build fundamental skills that are crucial to student learning in older grades. My second graders will learn to read and become more proficient in the English language. Thanks to all your contributions!
