My Students

Our students are bound to make great strides in second grade! Located in Chelsea, Manhattan, our second graders are always ready to face challenges. Our students are learning how to use the appropriate tools for becoming responsible citizens of not only our community, but our world.

Ambitious, kind, humorous, open-minded, caring, fearless, and definitely INSPIRING!

These are just a handful of words that can be used to describe our students. Our second graders are learning to become more and more autonomous each day. We emphasize the importance of being a positive leader and working towards our goals.

My Project

Our students have been in the process of working through the stages of writing: planning, drafting, revising, and editing. We will be approaching our most exciting stage, the Publishing Stage! In this stage of writing, students will be celebrating and sharing their gripping realistic fiction stories with their friends and family.

From studying authors and their realistic fiction stories to becoming realistic fiction story authors, our students are ready to share!

After carefully studying authors' crafts, structures of stories, character development, and lessons from books, our students have incorporated these techniques into their own writing and have evolved as writers. With these materials, our students can publish their writing and illustrate every page, just like our mentor books!

Each second grader will receive one hard cover blank book to publish their realistic fiction story. Using the art coloring and writing materials, students will illustrate the pages of their story books. With all of these materials, our second grade students will officially become an author AND an illustrator of their own stories.

Your support will benefit all 4 classes in the second grade team: Class 2-316, Class 2-317, Class 2-318, and Class 2-319.
