This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I love that my seconders are helpful and always ready to help within our classroom community. I would like for them to help others outside our classroom. My students were so happy and excited when I gave them jobs within our classroom. Each student knows how important it is to help and remember their jobs daily so I wanted my students to be able to help the entire second grade with water bottles to bring back and forth to school daily. By allowing them to provide other students with water bottles they will begin to help their community. It is important for students to be a part of their learning and giving back to the entire grade is a start.

Giving begins at home and I have been building relationships within our classroom with students within our classroom community to show each student we are a family and we work together.

My students are now aware that we are a class family so allowing them to help not just our immediate classroom community but the entire second grade community will be so meaningful to both them and I. This will also help them understand the importance of each community workers role within their own community. This a part of the second grade curriculum for social studies for students to know and understand the jobs within their community and they will now be able to play active part too.
