Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have a very diverse classroom of students who all have a great passion of learning. They are in a dual language program, and often are required to do more work than what is generally expected of their peers. They are learning the general standards, but also learning an entire new language at the same time. They are very hard working students who have a passion to grow their knowledge and continue their learning. They have big dreams of being teachers, doctors, lawyers, police officers and many other things. I am simply thankful to be part of their journey in growing towards their dreams.

My Project

In my classroom we use materials such as white boards or worksheets daily. This causes a lot of paper to be used, and whiteboards need to be changed out often. We use the white boards to write our math answers during lessons where we are cooperatively learning. I also use paper in order to print out students small group activities, homework, classwork, letters home, and a variety of other things. Due to COVID and our school budget getting cut, we will not be supplied as much paper as we normally get, so I am asking for that and ink also in this upcoming year.

Books are always a great addition to our classroom.

I often do read alouds during things like dismissals or breakfast in the mornings, and these books are great ones to teach students reading standards. I also have asked for books on STEAM education, as I am currently going back to college for a STEM program, and will be doing a lot of STEM lessons next year, and this would be a wonderful way to integrate it with reading lessons.
