it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you remember the days of the teacher standing in front of the classroom and lecturing to all of the students? Does the teacher from Charlie Brown come to mind? In today's high tech and fast paced classroom whole group instruction is not always effective.
I have a wonderful classroom full of sweet and enthusiastic learners.
They come from diverse cultures and many speak more than one language at home. Not only do I have a culturally diverse classroom, they all learn at very diverse levels. Our small, rural school is located in a somewhat isolated community.
My Project
In our fast paced world it is so hard to get students to focus and to stay focused for long periods of time. Whole group instruction works for certain subjects, but for math and reading our class needs small groups. We are in need of a small group table and chairs to help us learn and focus. Right now our class uses a round table that is meant for 4 students. My groups have 5 and 6 students. They don't have enough room to write and they have to bring their chairs from their desks to have a seat.
By having a table for small group work, along with matching chairs, my students will be able to get started and remain focused for our group time.
No more squishing each other in to make room and hunting for a chair.
