Our multi-age classroom is a community of learners and growers. We spend two years with our students, guiding them and watching them blossom. We emphasize working together and being a community. Each student helps another and learns in the best way, by teaching.
Our students are an amazing and diverse group of third and fourth graders.
They come from high poverty areas. School is often their comfort place and provides food as well as stability. The school is Title I funded. Our classroom is like a community, and we want the students to feel comfortable and safe to learn.
My Project
We are fortunate to already have 4 wobble stools in our Multi Age classroom. The students love to sit on them . It keeps them constantly moving. The students can choose to sit completely still while on them or to wobble back and forth while they are sitting.
I love this because research shows that our students' brains work better with active body movement.
My students need to keep their bodies physically active in order for their brains to learn. They need to move and stay active. The wobble stools will promote healthy bodies and healthy brains for our classroom.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
