Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come to school every day with smiles on their faces, ready to learn and become college ready. In our class, we work as a "team" to make each other better and accomplish anything that comes our way!

I teach at a large school in New York City where 100 percent of my students receive free breakfast and lunch.

Many of my students come from low income families and lack the resources needed to extend their knowledge at home. Despite so many hardships, my students come to school ready to do their best and learn all they can so they can be successful.

My Project

The flexible seats and math resources I have requested can be used in a variety of ways to ensure that each and every child has their choice on how they want to learn. The class sits together on exercise medicine balls during cooperative learning in both reading and math, and all lessons in content areas such as science, social studies, art, music, and even writing. These flexible seats will allow my class to be student-centered. This will be in a way where they show responsibility for their own work and decision making.

Having flexible seating is an important community-building experience that is the center of learning most of the school day.

Having such an inviting, well-marked seating arrangement will ensure all students feel they have an equal stake in their daily learning experiences, as well as a comfy place to work as a team to complete task.
