My Students

Our class serves students with a range of disabilities, including intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorder and specific learning disabilities. The typical student in my class reads at a third grade level and many struggle with basic phonics and number sense. 90% of our students are African American or Latino. Special education teachers are expected to deliver excellent instruction in Math, Reading and Writing. Having flexible seating will help my students focus more on the material and will keep them less frustrated, and help guide them even more.

My Project

The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students already have a "home." In other words, I know exactly where everything will go. We just need your help in getting everything through our door! The student's sit a lot in my classroom for lessons. We have the room split up into different sections; Therefore, these seating options will allow them to sit freely and stay engaged without losing focus. As well as use the bean bag chair for their calm down area when the student becomes agitated. By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.
