I have the privilege to share 40 students with my partner teacher. These eight and nine year olds come with all different gifts and needs. I am so blessed to share in their learning journey. Our school is culturally diverse with students coming from different countries who speak different languages at home such as Chinese, Arabic, and Spanish. All these children learn in different ways and I hope to create a classroom that meets their needs and promotes life long learners.
My Project
Flexible seating is an opportunity for students to find a suitable work space that suits their needs and learning styles. Each student has his or her own individual needs, so why have students all sitting in the same way?
We will embark on this transformation of the classroom by having the students explore and experience different work spaces.
Then students will reflect on each work space. After the students reflect they will determine what work spaces suit their needs best.
Allowing for individualized work spaces will allow students to have control over their learning environment and to discover their learning niche.
