My Students

The last nine years I have dedicated my life to teaching Kindergarteners and second graders at a Title 1 school in Billings, Mt. I love the challenges that present themselves at school where 85-90% of our students qualify for free or reduced price lunches.

I have a very unique group of second graders this year.

To start off with, I have a small class size for the district I teach in, making them work together and help one another like a close knit community. The second thing that makes them a unique group, is the number of boy to girl ratio. I have 11 boys and 5 girls. The third thing that makes them unique is the number of kids I have that are "gifted". These are just some things that make this group of kids unlike any other group I have taught before.

My Project

I hope to give my class a variety of differentiated seating. Even as an adult I get bored and distracted sitting in a regular chair at an inservice or training. My students are no different, throughout the day they lose focus. These seats would provide my students the opportunity to move around and get their wiggles out while continuing to work on their assignment. I would begin by introducing each type of seat and go over care and rules. That way each child stays safe and the seats are well cared for. I love these seats because it has the potential to impact many classes for years to come.
