My Students

The children in my class live in a high poverty community. Many of them are refugees whose families have escaped their homelands in search of a better life in the U.S.A. Most all of my students are English language learners. Some do not speak any English at all when they enter through my doorway. For some of my students, this is the first time that they have ever been enrolled in school.

They may come from all over the world, but one thing that my students have in common is that they love coming to school each day.

My classroom provides a safe and happy environment in contrast to the challenges that my students and their families endure daily. Many of them have expressed that they would rather be at school than at home.

My Project

The classrooms in our school were designed to encourage collaboration. Because the students work at tables instead of desks, they have no individual storage area at their seats.

With At-Your-Seat Sacks, all the materials that the children need throughout the day will be within reach.

Students will be able keep their books, journals, and supplies neatly at their seats.

Because so many of my students are English learners, they are apt to become confused if anything is out of place or unorganized. Keeping organized and establishing productive work habits is crucial to my young students as they lay the foundation for success in school.
