My Students

Each day, my students enter our classroom with big dreams and aspirations. Their brains are like sponges, taking in all new pieces of information. I teach at a PreK-8 school in Newark, NJ where all students receive free or reduced-price meals.

Despite many hardships they may face outside of the classroom, my students are eager to learn within our classroom community and love coming to school to achieve greatness.

They learn to show kindness, compassion, and empathy towards their peers, and most importantly, themselves. I want my students to know that I believe in them and care about them as if they were my own kids. They are the reason I step through the school doors each morning.

My Project

Due to Covid-19, we are learning remotely, and I have not interacted with my students in person this year. I hope to deliver these books to my students and surprise them this holiday season.

With these books, my students can practice their reading skills and also be reminded how loved they are.

I chose books that are empowering and encouraging, in a time where many have felt lonely and isolated. After missing some of their kindergarten year, and now some of their first grade year, I would love to be able to give my kids these gifts as a reminder of how special they are!
