My Project

We are wanting to make sculptures and masks using plaster gauze. The 4th and 5th grade students will have an art show at the end of the year and will need to demonstrate 3 dimensional art making. The elementary students will use recycled materials to create abstract 3D shapes and plasters to create a smooth finish. They will also get a chance to create masks following inspiration from Native American, Asian, and African masks.

3rd graders will get a chance to learn and create Degas dancers sculptures using foil and plaster gauze.

They will practice drawing poses working in partners to model for each other. Once they achieve the pose they like they will build the pose with foil and cover with plaster gauze. Then they will paint the dancers in the style of the impressionists.
