My Students

We are in unchartered territory this year as classroom teachers. We want to provide our students with the safest, smoothest transition back from quarantine as possible. We really don't know if we will be in school or at home; however, kids need consistency and routines so they feel confident about their education.

My students usually walk into my classroom every day enthusiastic, eager to learn, and full of amazingly creative ideas.

They are an awesome bunch of young adults. I teach at a Title I school in Brooklyn, New York, and many of my students do not have the tools needed to fully complete the work they have to do.

My Project

My students have just returned from remote learning, from their homes, since November. Although some have returned to our building, most of our school is remote. During this time, they have been coming to my remote classroom everyday on a computer screen. I am currently using a laptop only however, having two screens will allow me to see all 25 of my eager students on one screen and my presentation of curriculum on the other. It is a real necessity for me to teach them what I need to. Using two screens will allow me to see all my students' faces. It will also allow me to call on them for questions and, I can see if they are raising their hand because they have a question to ask me.

Two screens will also allow me to catch up on my students' social emotional well being during class time.

This will be possible by allowing me to check in with them while I have the curriculum up on my laptop. By seeing all of their faces, answering questions posed in the chats and talking on one one with them through the second screen, I can help them all have a better remote learning experience.

I miss my students, in school learning and building relationships with all my students. Using two screens will allow them all to learn effectively and feel seen and heard everyday.
