Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am an instructional technology coach passing along my knowledge and passion for computer science. My students attend a Title I school, where most of the technology resources they have are at school. I teach over 400 students from 4-7 years old.

They are all sponges when it comes to hands-on learning that integrates technology.

I make sure all my students are exposed to computer science. Learning to code will make my students better problem-solvers which is an important skill for our young learners. These students are highly engaged and eager to learn.

My Project

Infosys Foundation USA is having their Pathfinders Institute this winter in Providence, RI. It will take place from February 16-20. I have this golden opportunity to attend Pathfinders.

This will allow me to receive in-person professional development for my K-2 grade students in computer science.

Scratch Jr. PD will show me how I can integrate coding into different subject areas. KIBO would bring in the unplugged experience for my students to have a hands-on approach to computational thinking. With the opportunity to attend Pathfinders institute, I will be able to grow as an educator, reach over 400 hundred students, as well as teach over 20 teachers coding. Like my students, I continue to be a sponge and learn everything I can about coding to bring to my students.
