My students need a soccer goal and multiple soccer balls to promote fitness skills safely, keeping the balls within our grassy area and out of the street and parking lot.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"Yard duty....the ball went over the fence again," is a daily request. Without soccer goals our students use the small trees near the perimeter fence for goals. Our 6-8 year old students have difficulty learning to shoot accurately and low. I would love to have enough balls to teach soccer skills.
Our K-2nd grade school population is largely Latino 5-8 year olds who qualify for free and reduced lunches.
Many of them don't have grassy yards to play soccer at home, or balls of their own to practice. If they do play at home, they use their coats on the ground for goals. Unlike my children, most of them don't have the money to sign up for the local recreation leagues to give them the skills to compete for a spot on school teams later on. I want to offer them skills, learning to respect coaches (authority), how to follow suggestions, and learn the joy of perseverance.
My Project
My students need a soccer goal and multiple soccer balls to promote fitness skills safely, keeping the balls within our grassy area and out of the street and parking lot. I found soccer to be a universal language for our language learners and English only students as well. The better their skills become the more confident they become connected to our classroom. Belonging is a real need for these students, as is the opportunity to run and play and learn cooperation and sportsmanship. With budget cuts, our P.E. equipment is lacking. Good equipment brings pride.
Healthy children...... are happy children.
Healthy children...... are ready to learn.
We want our students to excel academically AND physically.
Please help us get this essential soccer equipment.
