My Project

Did George Washington Carver invent peanut butter? Who was Katherine Johnson? Have you ever heard of the scientist called the "Shark Lady?" How did Dr. Mae Jemison make it to space? 4th Graders want to know!

4th Graders in my class want to learn about pioneers in science who helped change the world through their scientific contributions!

We can learn about these incredible scientists through wonderful books in our classroom library!

Our class will read about the ground-breaking (literally) scientific discoveries of crop rotation in a class read aloud, "Who Was George Washington Carver?" to help us learn about plants as we plant our urban classroom garden. Want to know how mathematics and space work together? We will learn about Annie Easley and Katherine Johnson, who were geniuses in the art of mathematics and crucial to space exploration at NASA. We will learn about Kazue Togasaki, one of the first Japanese women to become a doctor, and Roseli Ocampo-Friedmann, A Filipino microbiologist who studied bacteria and algae that could grow in extreme places (like Space) and many other remarkable individuals in science!

Please help my students learn about these extraordinary scientists who changed the world! Donate to this project today! Thank you for supporting education.
