This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are curious about the world around them. They enjoy using their imaginations and creativity in their learning. Throughout the year students work hard to reach their potentials.

They learn how to see things from the perspective of a scientist, an engineer, a writer, an artist, a historian, and a mathematician.

They attend an inner city school in Southern California. Most students come from families with limited resources and limited formal education.

Unfortunately our school budget keeps dwindling every year. This limits the materials students have at their disposal to make learning come to life. Despite this, students enjoy coming to school and having fun while learning.

My Project

Students need to be able to integrate technology into their learning. Many of my students do not have computers or tablets at home. School is the only place students get to practice valuable research skills. Unfortunately over 800 students share two small computer labs. The computers are also used for state tests and frequently my students' computer lab time is cancelled. Students would benefit from having access to the iPads throughout the day to learn more about scientific and engineering concepts. Students will work in pairs to take notes from videos and articles. They will use their research to explain the science behind the observations made during their investigations.
