Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from all 5 boroughs of New York City. Nearly all of them are coming from low-income homes where most likely a computer does not reside.

These kids, like all kids, deserve nothing but the best education possible and without technology in the classroom they have no way of truly advancing in the modern world.

Dedication to their own learning is something I see in all the students I teach so I can't help but dedicate myself to helping them get all of the tools necessary to have a successful education.

My Project

My school has 20 calculators. That is it!

My AP Biology and Living Environment students need to use calculators on a regular basis and it has become difficult to provide them the tools they need.

A great example of how this will hell could be the upcoming Macroevolution unit. When calculating statistical data to decide whether or not genes will affect progeny calculators are a must for number crunching. Calculators will also be crucial when my students will be graphing statistical data and need to find standard deviations and errors of mean. Both of these skills are hard enough to learn the first time let alone without having a calculator for all of the number crunching.

With this project I will be able to have calculators available at all times for my students and will be able to stop scurrying around the school when my students need tools to make simple calculations to complete tasks.

Just a small donation to get us the 20 calculators we need will allow us to get through the year without the headache of tracking down tools for daily use.
