My Students

Kindergarten students are at the age of discovery. They learn best by doing, playing, and interacting with each other.

Each year my students are curious and excited to learn.

They are at the age to ask questions like, "Why is the sky blue?" They begin the year not knowing how to write their names and completely dependent and leave reading, writing, and much more independent.

My Project

I am requesting materials to begin having Science centers. Kindergarten was opened 2 years ago for the first time at my school. We have materials for language arts and math, but only have books to teach science and social living. I would like to be able to start next year with materials for our children to learn science through discovery, the way this age group should be learning science. I plan to set up centers and let the children explore the world of science. I am requesting magnifying glasses, color paddles, a plant growing kit where students can see the roots, as well as a butterfly pavilion and a ladybug station. I am also requesting plastic animals so that the children can sort the animals by different characteristics.

I believe that learning hands-on is the best way to learn and there is plenty of research to prove it.

Without these materials our students continue to read and hear about science, but cannot experience it. Please help us bring the world of science to life!
