My Students

A Chinese proverb states, "Tell me, I'll forget. Show me, I'll remember. Involve me, I'll understand. This is so true when teaching the concepts of Science to today's students.

My students go to a school that has 50% of students on free or reduced lunch.

These students often do not have much support at home, due to parents/guardians having to work or not be educated themselves. These students need encouragement on a daily basis and a teacher who can make learning fun for them.

My Project

I requested hands-on materials so that I may engage my students in the concepts of Science in a way that they are able to participate by seeing and feeling through experimentation. When students are able to actually do the experiments themselves, they obtain a better sense of the concept and learn much more than they ever would through boring lectures. My students will perform experiments in electricity and magnetism, chemical and physical changes, the steps of the scientific method and all about ecosystems with the hands on materials I've requested.

I want to students to be excited to walk in my room and know that they will get to learn through "doing" instead of just reading a boring text book.

Please help me to make my students educational process a fun learning experience.
