My Students

Our classroom has many opportunities to learn as we play. One of our biggest challenges in our classroom is to provide our students with hands on materials that give them the opportunity to see how the world changes around them. My students are very interested how animals change in their backyards. My students are ages three through five years old and are very inquisitive about the world around them. They are constantly investigating their world and asking questions about the insects, plants, and changes in the environment.

Our school has a great outdoor environment that allows the students to explore in a field behind our classroom.

The students collect bugs, leaves, and rocks. They are learning how to create habitats for the insects that they find and animals that are part of our classroom. They are very enthusiastic about taking care of the things that live in their world.

My Project

Live specimens such as ladybugs, newts, poly wogs, ants and butterflies will provide my students with opportunities to explore and study changes in living creatures. Viewing habitats like ant farms, frog hatchery's, butterfly pavilions, and insect environments will allow my students to freely explore and study the changes of insects, plants, and amphibians that live in nearby ponds, creeks, or natural areas that students explore with their families making a connection between home and school. My students will be able to engage in caring for the animals by setting up their habitat, learning what the animals eat, and how to keep them healthy. The students will learn how to respect the world they live in and the creatures that they coexist with.

This project will not only change my students' lives but hopefully it will change other childrens' lives.

Interactions between families will expand the knowledge learned in the classroom. My students can help others learn how to care for the earth they live on and the creatures that reside on the earth.
