This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I love everything about my students, especially their excitement to learn about the complex nature of our world through science. My Chemistry students come from an underprivileged community that is oftentimes pushed to the side by our society. The community my students are from is plagued by all sorts of pollution, environmental racism, and systematic racism. My students are some of the most special students because they come ready to learn, every day regardless of the barriers in their path. They are some of the most resilient students I have had the honor to work with and my goal is to break down some of those barriers by providing them with essential necessities. The scientific calculators are really going to help me in showing my students how to use such an important tool and increase their math skills. Only about 7 percent of our students are at achieving math proficiency. With the calculators, I am trying to support my students into increasing that percentage.
