My Students

200 students walk into my classroom everyday, all of whom have a dream of earning a high school diploma so that they can be successful adults, whether that is to go to college or learn a trade.

My students come from a low-income neighborhood in Los Angeles.

Despite the realities of poverty that occur outside of the school walls, they often come to school excited about learning and becoming successful people. They are energetic, passionate souls who work hard in school. My school does a lot to try to get resources to help the students get a good education, but there are still many things left to be desired because the needs are so great.

My Project

My students will be able to use these calculators to assist them on laboratory experiments, tests, and projects for the class. Having the calculators will also support them in furthering their math skills. Most importantly, my students will gain the necessary skills to become successful in college.

My students want to go to college, and knowing the basics of using a calculator for more sophisticated purposes than adding and subtracting will help them achieve their goals and be successful once they are in college.
