This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a magnet public high school located in NJ, which has a focus on medicine, dentistry, nursing, and other healthcare areas. As both a Chemistry and Physics teacher, I strive to provide my students with all of the tools necessary to be successful. However, sometimes, we need a little outside help. Therefore we're asking for donations to help pay for a classroom set of scientific calculators so that the students may perform high-level calculations during classwork activities.

The proceeds from this fundraiser will directly help all of my Algebra-Based Physics students unlock their potentials as future leaders in STEM communities.

My Project

Algebra-based physics is a course in which the students must routinely perform high-level calculations. The use of these devices will not only increase student productivity but also increase their engagement in the subject. Scientific calculators are often used during group work activities and student projects. Allowing each student to access this technology will result in higher educational outcomes, as well as teaching students how to properly and effectively make calculations.

Having a classroom set of calculators will allow every student to engage in meaningful studies that will promote a deep and thorough understanding of high school physics.

By studying STEM-based courses, the students will further enhance both their problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, as well as develop an interest in science that can be fostered and nurtured by educators.
