Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I currently teach 3 Science self-contained classes with an overall of 36 diverse learners. My students are very passionate and enthusiastic about science and learning in general. They are very inquisitive students are motivated by art and computer-related activities. They also love working on hands-on and interactive activities. Their love for learning is showcased everyday in and outside of school, especially now during these difficult times.

We are located in a low-income/high poverty school district in Queens, NY.

Unfortunately, many of our students face diverse challenges both in school and outside of school. As an educator I work hard to make sure that these challenges don't interfere with the quality of education my students are receiving. We always try our best to make sure we create a space centered in equity, where everyone regardless of race, gender, disability or social status feels safe and welcomed.

My Project

These supplies will give my students access to hands-on science activities. Due to the different diverse learners that make up my class, students can often have a hard time understanding science concepts. These 3D models and kits will give my students the opportunity to be presented with information in a way that works for them and meet their needs. As a result of this, students will be more engaged in the lesson and the material will be more accessible to students. These supplies will allow students to enhance their learning and experience with different science topics. Thank you for your time and consideration in funding my hands on science project. Your contribution will be greatly appreciated by my students.
