Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As my students walk in the morning, they immediately begin a new and challenging academic experience, a free, nonjudgmental journal writing activity where they express themselves freely. We proceed with a whole group mini lesson for about ten minutes and then break up into small group instruction.

Our students come from socio-economically challenged communities.

Up to 85% of our students receive reduced or free lunch. My students are all enthusiastic learners. They come to class energized and fully prepared to face any academic challenges in a constructive manner. Though our school is located in an affluent community, most of our students come from housing developments (Low income families/neighborhoods). Although we are located in an affluent community our school lacks a lot of the resources needed to enrich our students academically.

My Project

Our students will be able to use technology to conduct research based topics based on multiple articles in science, social studies, reading, and writing. I will provide a variety of topics which they will read and provide textual evidence to prove their argument. They will utilize the laptops by researching provided topics from multiple web sources, extract evidence, and use a word processing application for notes, drafts, and for publishing their final writing piece. They will: learn how to research on the Internet using browsers, learn how to gather information from a variety of web sources; prove their point of view by fact finding, and complete a polished writing project.

This project will improve student success by allowing our students to experience technology like never before.

Your donation will allow our students to familiarize themselves with how technology works while preparing them for a more effective, highly technological future. These skills and strategies will help our students to become successful in school, competitive, college and career ready, and lifelong learners.
