My Students

I teach Integrated Science in Lowell, MA. Lowell is an urban district, which creates a very diverse classroom. My students come from very low socio-economic backgrounds, in which approximately over 80% of the students in the school receive free lunch. I have been teaching in Lowell for 17 years and love the students. All my science lessons are inquiry-based and involve the students engaged in the content we are learning. The hands-on approach really helps my special education and ELL learners grasp science content.

My Project

School this fall is a little uncertain. I may have students in person and I may have some learning at home. Regardless students will not be able to share materials. This will make lab experiments challenging. The materials I am requesting will assist my students in completing a few hands-on activities no matter where we are.

Students will be able to conduct labs involving variables and controls, discover how many drops of water fit on a penny, learn how to measure using the metric system, explore with pendulums and build a marble maze.

No matter what the fall brings these materials will help my students have their own supplies to learn science phenomena.
