My Students

The students attend school in the rural community. They come from a variety of backgrounds with many interested in pursuing various fields in science.

My students are fun-loving and motivated students from a small community with the potential to do great things in the future.

I teach most of the high school science for this small school. My students are taking a variety of classes (biology, chemistry, and physics) and are freshman, sophomores, juniors, and seniors who are eager to try new things.

My Project

My students' lives will be improved by being able to engage with the curriculum themselves and not stuck just reading a book or behind a computer screen. Students learn more when they are having fun and engaged in their learning.

These materials will give my students what they need to engage in hands-on activities.

For example, we will use the tape measures for many physics experiments including calculating velocity, measuring the distance of launched projectiles, and competing in a metrics olympics lab. The density cubes will allow my chemistry students to explore a foundational concept that is often misunderstood. I intend to use the whiteboards and markers to make my classroom more student-centered. They will give each student a tool to show his/her thinking that is easy for me to continuously monitor for understanding. These tools will help science come alive for my students. All of these materials will help my high schoolers have better experiences in biology, physics, and chemistry this year and in years to come.

All of these supplies are reusable which means that this project will have a lasting impact on the students of my school.
