My Students

My students are diverse. They come from many different backgrounds. This neighborhood has many new immigrants. Our students vary from regular education kids to mainstream kids as well as 12:1 kids.

Our schools motto is "Committed to Excellence." We strive to give our students the best resources we can.

Many of them need hands-on materials and manipulatives so that they can "see" what is happening. Most days we break up into small groups to do mini lessons to review or strengthen concepts.

Our goal is to try our best to help the kids meet their goals!

My Project

There are many rewards in school, like reading rewards, math reawrds and behavior rewards. So why not, science rewards! I wanted to give students specific content rewards when they come to the Science Lab. I chose rewards that emphasized a scientific idea, like heat sensitive pencils and puzzles for students to solve.

I want students to receive a reward that will keep them thinking!

I want to keep students focused on their work and thinking, by providing them with an incentive. A positive reward can go a long way. Sometimes, it's little things like this that makes all the difference!
