Do you love science? My students do and would love to be able to learn science by having hands-on material to work with. It would help them to learn about electricity, matter, and landforms.
My students are 5th graders who live in a rural community in southern Utah.
My students come from different social backgrounds and sometimes have moved around a lot. My students love to learn by doing. Anytime they can learn without worksheets they love and seem to remember those things better.
My Project
I believe that that when students are able to learn by doing they remember the lesson better than just working on a worksheet. I believe these materials will help my students to learn the concepts of science better than us just watching videos or doing worksheets. Hands-on activities are a wonderful way for students to learn and remember what they are learning. Hands-on activities help students to remember things long after the tests are over. My students first will used the material to learn about matter and that matter can't be created or destroyed just changed. Then we will move on to land formations and how the earth is a big magnet. We learn about magnets and electricity. My students will be able to create their own circuit and see how little or much power is needed to light up a light bulb. My students will be able to create and learn all of all science core with this donation. My students love science and would love to be able to do more experiments.
By helping my buy these labs, my students will be able to become better scientists.
Who knows? Maybe by being able to learn about electricity, or matter or land formations, one of these students may become the next Thomas Edison, or a geologist who saves the planet. My students diverse the chance to learn not only by worksheets but by their own hands.
