This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Be a part of engaging students while building background knowledge and experiences that will be life-long! Most of our students have never visited our Science Museum and lack that experience of "exploration".

We are a very diverse school with high poverty and high transient rate in an large urban district.

Our students are limited in Science by experience not intelligence or capabilities. We have taken students in a previous year, with it being very powerful to watch students move beyond their insecurities and begin to explore. This trip will assist in modeling the concept of life-long learning and exploration. Science is founded on the exploration and the museum trip will provide just that.

My Project

Last year, we took a group of students to the museum. We had to encourage the students to make cups to put into a wind tunnel and to turn the levers and see what happens. It was an emotional moment to see the students' personas change as they began to explore. We were fortunate last year to have the funding and not as fortunate this year. The moment that the students began to explore needs to be repeated for this year and hopefully with your support, it will.

Please help us support our students into the wonderful world of science.

This is a trip that can be life-changing for many students. Our students have so much potential if they are provided the opportunity.
