Help me give my students foam models that allow them to manipulate and show how enzymes, the cell membrane, & protein channels function and awesome magnetic molecular models of water and NaCl.
My students are from varying backgrounds and educational aspirations. I have some which receive special education services for social or emotional challenges and others with learning disabilities. Among my current students, there are over 14 languages spoken in their homes, 3 of which have extremely limited English skills and require translation support from either an aide or student helpers. Some have aspirations to go to college and become a doctor, and others are just trying to graduate from high school. Inspiring and engaging them all is a constant goal.
My Project
I recently started teaching AP bio. Inevitably, experienced AP teachers share lessons that use these models from 3D Molecular Designs to teach these difficult concepts of systems too small to see with microscopes or the naked eye.
These kits are colorful, interactive, and accurately show complex interactions of cell membranes, enzymes, water, and ionized molecules within biological systems.
Each of these kits provide hands on and visual means to play with and learn how these systems work rather than relying on YouTube animations of these processes. These will make a huge difference in the learning and comprehension of these concepts for both my AP students and my regular biology students too.
