This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We have an outstanding school in a large urban area. The teachers here work tirelessly to bring engaging, fun activities to enhance our curriculum. Because of the numerous budget cuts, we have had to seek funding for the "extras" that the kids absolutely love.
Our students rock!
Even though we have over 1,000 elementary students, our school has a "family" feeling to it. The staff is great and works very hard to encourage the students to become successful members of society. Many of the students come from homes where many of their basic needs aren't met. We strive to give them the love and confidence they need to survive. This is a difficult world, but we know that with enough help, love, and guidance; they will have a bright future.
My Project
These tablets will allow my Journalism Club to travel around the school and get live interviews, pictures, and be able to report on all of the Science/Math concepts being taught at our school. We are going to produce the first digital Science/newsletter for the students and parents!
Imagine how excited the students will be when they get to be roving reporters!
This project will not only teach the students about how important it is to digitize the school newsletter, so that the school is not using all the paper and printer ink, leaving less of a carbon footprint. It will also help them to learn about different concepts in Science and Math!
