My Students

The students at our school represent a high poverty, 100% free breakfast, lunch and snack from the surrounding communities and neighborhoods. We are a special school that offers not only academics, but performing arts classes in vocal, band, violin, drama, technology, and physical education. Our staff works together to provide the best opportunities for our students to achieve their personal best.

Our students come from little means, but bring BIG excitement to their daily learning.

Students are not able to have an opportunity to explore outside of their homes due to safety concerns and we hope to bring that opportunity on our campus where they can investigate their science hypothesis with hands-on learning.

The mission of the Academy is to prepare students for academic and performing arts excellence and responsible citizenship. Our students and staff truly believe this is the best way to break the poverty cycle and send our students to college or trade school.

My Project

The transition from second to third grade is quite a jump! My amazing students will go from fiction to non-fiction reading as they begin their journey into upper elementary. These magazines will allow students to read about new discoveries, current events, improve their comprehension in an exciting format. After reading their "own" copy, it will be kept in their book boxes to revisit during silent reading or shared reading with their reading buddies. Eventually, the well loved magazines will go home to share with their families.

My goal is to foster a love of informational stories that inspire students to dig deeper, ask questions and explore new ideas that they have read about and dream up new ideas to explore!

Who knows I could have the next inventor, scientist, engineer, mathematician, etc...the possibilities are endless.
