I teach a wonderful group of fifth grade students in a small rural community in North Carolina.
We have very few supplies in our classrooms and our budget for this year has been cut even further. I try to give my students as much hands-on learning opportunities as possible.
These science activities will give students the chance to explore science and reinforce vocabulary at their own pace throughout the year. My students are required to pass a standardized test in reading, math, and science before promotion into middle school. The Science Laboratory kits include 160 different reading selections in Life Science, Physical Science, and Earth Science. Each selection is written on two different ability levels in order to accommodate every learner. The students will be able to read and complete experiments on topics ranging from predicting the weather to understanding ecosystem interactions. The CD-ROM provided with the kit includes class vocabulary games to review and reinforce content. Some of the topics covered include: photosynthesis, habitats, Earth's climates, water cycle, earthquakes, gravity, and friction.
You can make it possible for my students to be successful on their test and develop a love for science so that they will become life-long learners. Thank you so much for your support!
