Help Mrs. Vaughn

My classroom is an inner city classroom in a high poverty area of Maryland. We lack many of the essential resources necessary for adequate instruction and the teacher is essentially forced to purchase materials to extend the horizons for her scholars. Many of them rarely leave their community to explore the world that will await them once they leave our K-8 school.

My students need these 12 science activity kits to explore the concepts of matter, energy, force & energy, and cells & organisms. Our curriculum is given to us with one set of textbooks and a couple transparencies. That's it! It is up to the teacher to create activities to make the concepts real to the scholars. I think of myself as a very creative teacher but these activities will expand my scholars minds much further.

If we had these science activities, we would be able to create our own cells, and play bingo to reinforce skills taught through out the year, and much, much more! Furthermore, Maryland is in the process of testing my scholars in Science and boy, they would definitely be prepared for that test then!

Please help me give my scholars they need and deserve! You will open their minds to the world around them and maybe even further the love of science I know several of them have. Please make this difference for us!
