My Students

My students are creative and curious. They are always willing to learn new things. My students are in need of technology to help them get the most out of their education. My school is committed to the education of their students and is very active within the community.

My students need technology to help bring our science classroom into the 21st century.

So much of science is invisible to the naked eye, but computers in the classroom allowed me to make the invisible visible.

I teach Grades 2-5 in Brooklyn, NY. I work in Fort Greene, which is a beloved Brooklyn neighborhood that's diverse and accessible. A neighborhood that’s both community-driven and culturally relevant. Each student brings his or her own diverse background and experiences to the classroom. But the one thing they all have in common is their passion to learn. I try to utilize many different learning techniques and strategies to best reach all the students. The ability to do research in the room or watch a relevant video on the topic will only enhance what my students can get from a lesson.

My Project

Technology in the classroom every day would be an amazing addition to any science classroom. They will have the ability to make the invisible visible. So much of science cannot be seen with the naked eye. Kindle Fire student tablets that will give them the power to bring the world alive. We will use the Kindle Fires to complete virtual labs, webquests, research on all topics, and review activities.

Technology will allow my students to become more independent learners.

It will also allow them to learn at their own speed. They will complete student-led station labs that will let them explore on their own and with their peers.

Throughout the year, I try to use technology as often as possible. The problem is that there are not enough computers for each classroom much less the science studio. That makes it very hard to get the computers on a regular basis and then the students also have to share. These computers have been so overused as well. When technology is limited in the classroom or damaged, it makes it much harder to make learning an interactive experience. With technology at their fingertips on a regular basis, the students will be able to complete a variety of different web quests that will take them on a safe journey through the internet on specific science topics. Learning is always enhanced when approached from a variety of ways.
