My Project

As part of our Science Fair in May, we will invite parents to our school to engage in science activities together with their children. This is one way to further our mission to improve student outcomes through developing meaningful partnerships between families and school.

During Parent Engagement Day, the students and their parents/guardians will build electrical circuits that, when closed, will light up light bulbs.

The participants will explore how batteries, solar panels, and even play dough can be used as energy sources.

This project builds on another project (Power Up Students!) that was generously financed through DonorsChoose. The classroom activities for our 4th graders were so successful that we now want to make it our main activity for Parent Engagement Day. For this reason, we need more materials! Additional alligator clip wires, mini light bulbs, batteries, solar panels, and play dough, will allow all participants to be actively engaged.
