Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Every year I get students who have high expectations from me as their science teacher. Very often I would start the lesson with "Guess what we are going to do today?" That would make them open their mouths and eyes and just wait anxiously. And every time, I have something exciting.

My students are from different cultures, ethnicities, and religions.

We are a very diversified school. Students attend our school which has no budget for updating and enhancing the 21st Century skills they will need to possibly become America's future scientists and engineers. My students come to our school with the expectation of experiencing my unique lessons that include a real-life application. Some of my students are with Special needs and disabilities.

My Project

My students will create STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) projects using Nasa's, National Geographic or any other educational sites to find engineering projects. They will have an opportunity to choose a topic they are interested in. They will design scientific models to explain their hypothesis when they research one or the other scientific argument / question. They will then run a set of experiments with their models to either confirm or redesign it. As a result of creating engineering models, my students will be able to explain how to connect their models to real life needs and possibly create new technology.

My project will make a huge impact on my students' abilities to develop their skills in engineering, so necessary in 21st Century.

This project will promote my students' abilities to question, analyze, and develop an understanding of how things work. This project is very important for their scientific understanding of how things work. In addition, my students will use their projects in an upcoming Science Fair.
