Help Mrs. Cooper

I teach at a title one middle school and this year was a struggle for my eight grade science students. It was all because many of them had a very limited science comprehension and vocabulary. My students were very eager to learn, but we don't have the proper science resources to fuel their eagerness. This year we studied various topics form cells to the hydrosphere. Many times I would see my students grab a regular dictionary to look up science specific vocabulary only to find the word is not included. I saw the frustration and disappointment on their faces, and that is why I am requesting a class set of The American Heritage Student Science Dictionary. This dictionary will provide my future students the resources they need to strengthen their science vocabulary and comprehension. This will also help to increase the science scores on the EOG test that is operational next school year. These dictionaries will open up a whole new world of vocabulary to my future scientists, next year and the years to come. It would be super if we had a set of the dictionaries to start the year off on the right track learning and exploring with science vocabulary. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to help my young scientists of the future.
