Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

For our science project, students will explore various aspects of engineering, chemistry, and botany using the provided materials. These activities are designed to spark curiosity, enhance hands-on learning, and encourage collaborative problem-solving.

Students will use the Lakeshore Design & Play STEAM Boats and Planes Kit to learn about principles of buoyancy, aerodynamics, and engineering design.

Working in small groups, they will follow the provided instructions to build functional models of boats and planes. Once completed, students will test their creations, modifying designs to optimize performance based on criteria such as speed. These activities align with scientific principles and give students opportunities to apply critical thinking and creativity.

The Elmer's Washable School Glue, Magicfly Popsicle Sticks, and Elmer’s Gue Premade Slime will be integral to a chemistry-based project. Students will experiment with crafting and assembling structures using popsicle sticks and glue, learning about adhesion and stability. Additionally, they will create their own slime using Elmer's Magical Liquid Activator, exploring the process of polymerization and discussing how molecular structures impact the texture and stretchability of slime. These hands-on experiments make abstract scientific concepts tangible and memorable.

In the botany portion of the project, students will use the 3" plastic plant pots and Carolina Professional Potting Soil to start their own small gardens. They will plant seeds, monitor growth over time, and record observations in a science journal. This activity will teach students about plant biology, the importance of soil composition, and the factors influencing plant growth. By engaging directly with living plants, students will develop an appreciation for nature and the scientific process.

Overall, this science project combines engineering, chemistry, and botany, providing students with a holistic STEM learning experience. Each material plays a critical role in creating an engaging, hands-on environment that fosters creativity, experimentation, and a deeper understanding of science.
