Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This project aims to enhance the classroom space to improve student well-being and provide the resources and materials to handle stress and overcome adversity.

Science classes need mental health resources, too.

My students balance a lot of stressors, from Dual Enrollment courses to career preparation in their academy courses to they can graduate with industry certifications. On top of this, our amazing students participate in sports, volunteering, internships, and community events.

The resources from this project ensure they have a space to meditate, unwind, and re-energize so they can continue surpassing expectations and prejudices based on their background. I am incredibly proud of these students; they deserve to feel safe, secure, and successful.

I selected items to not only make my classroom look and feel clean, but also items like the weighted plush and saucer chair to help students have a place to decompress when they get overwhelmed, coloring books so they can meditate during any free time that they might get (and a means to organize my color pencils so they can access them when needed), snacks in case they have not eaten or need a little "pick me up", or a standing desk for my more fidgety students to have a few flexible seating options.
